Eastern Province, Amapara.


10 civilians including 2 children were killed while 5 others including 2 children reportedly sustained serious injuries when a group of LTTE terrorists opened indiscriminate small arms fire at civilians in Kirimetiya at Rathmalgaha Ella,  in Iginiyagala today (Feb 21) at around 5p.m.


According to Iginiyagala police sources, LTTE terrorists have stormed into the Kirimetiya village and opened fire at civilians indiscriminately. These people are mainly chena  cultivators the sources further said. The terrorists have  shot at the civilians at pointblank range the Police said citing the injured who had managed to flee the area. Over the years LTTE terrorists have used village massacres and brutal attacks at livestock of the Sinhalese and Muslim villagers as an instrument of systematic genocide. 


Army and Police Special Task Force (STF) personnel were inducted to the area in pursuit of the suspected terrorists.  The injured civilians were evacuated to the general hospital at Ampara. 

LTTE is a ruthless terrorist outfit that has been fighting for mono ethnic separate homeland for Tamils since 1983. The outfit led by its psychopathic leader V. Prbhakaran is notorious for crimes against women and children. During its three decades of terror campaign against Sri Lankan citizens the outfit has killed and maimed over tens and thousands innocent children in ethnic cleansing raids, indiscriminate bomb attacks and by using child soldiers at the battlefronts.

The FBI in its recent report called LTTE as the deadliest terrorist outfit in the world. According to the report, "it's not al Qaeda or Hezbollah or even HAMAS" but the group is called the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) or the Tamil Tigers for short is the deadliest and most dangerous terrorists outfit in the world

LTTE Massacres 22 Civilians in two Commuter Bus Bombs.


Two Bomb attacks on buses by LTTE in Sri Lanka have left 22 people dead and about 100 injured, the first of them hitting a vehicle in a suburb of Colombo.

Twenty people died and more than 80 were hurt in the blast in the capital while a later attack in the town of Kandy killed two and injured 20.

Eyewitnesses said they had seen bodies inside the bus, which had shrapnel marks all over it. "I was standing in the middle of the bus when there was a loud noise and the whole bus toppled to the side," office worker Shanika Priyadharshani said.

"I blacked out for a while. There was black smoke, people were dead around me. I shouted for help and someone pulled me out."

The attack in the central hill district of Kandy also targeted a crowded commuter bus. A police spokesman said the device had been placed inside the vehicle.

President Mahinda Rajapaksa accused the rebels of "outrageous brutality" and a lack of respect for human life.

LTTE Terrorists Massacre More Civilians in a Commuter Train Bomb.


Eight people were killed and 73 civilians injured when LTTE terrorists exploded a bomb on a commuter train during rush hour in the Sri Lankan capital on Monday, military officials said.

This is the 21st terrorist attack committed by the LTTE this year in Sri Lanka against the civilians, killing 149 civilians in 2008 alone.


"Eight civilians including a pregnant woman were killed and 73 injured from the explosion," said military spokesman Brigadier Udaya Nanayakkara.

The military defused two powerful bombs on two buses over the weekend and has stepped up security in public areas.


President Vows to defeat Terrorism
“My government and I are committed to defeating terrorism. No-one should have expectations that there will be a let-up in the battle against terrorism because of the frenzied attacks by the Tamil Tigers," the president said. "I will leave no room for terrorism in this country."


He accused the rebels of "desperately trying to whip up communal strife" in the country and pledged that the government would not allow this to happen.


Mr Rajapaksa said the bomb blast on the train at Dehiwala followed the discovery of three other bombs placed in passenger buses, all of which were found by bus employees and passengers.

"LTTE has once again demonstrated to the world its total commitment to violence and terror" - Sri Lanka President


President Mahinda Rajapaksa while condemning the brutal LTTE terrorists acttack in the Fort today that took the lives of 10 people offered his condolences to the bereaved families of those killed and wished speedy recovery to all those injured in thoseis act of wanton savagery.

Issuing a statement President Rajapaksa said with this bomb attack on a busy street the LTTE has once again demonstrated to the world its total commitment to violence and terror to achieve its separatist goals in Sri Lanka, and its absolute contempt for democracy and human rights.

"Repeated savagery of this order underlines and reiterates the need for concerted action by all those who cherish democracy, human rights and the values of civilized society, to eradicate the menace of terrorism of which the LTTE remains the bloodiest example today," President said.

"While understanding the deep shock and revulsion felt by all at this loss of life and limb caused by the LTTE, I call upon the people to remain calm and not be provoked by this further display of its unmitigated terror. Your continued patience and restraint in the face of such undisguised savagery is the best way to assist the Security Forces to succeed in their operations to defeat terrorism in our country," he added.

Eleven Muslim Civilians were murdered by the LTTE terrorists. Their bodies were found after they had apparently gone to repair an irrigation system. Only survivor of the massacre said "On Sunday evening suddenly a group of Tigers stormed the place where we were. They were armed with guns, sickles, knives and axes. They abducted us, took us to the forest, and blindfolded us. After it became dark, they attacked us with sickles, axes and knives."

In Jaffna, one UNP activist was shot and killed by the LTTE and the voters from the LTTE controlled area were not allowed to vote by LTTE.

A hand grenade was hurled at the polling booth at the Jaffna Stanley Collage around 7.45 am toady, but it failed to explode. LTTE cadres who came by in a motor bicycle have hurled this grenade. LTTE cadres were seen roaming in motor bicycles near most of the polling booths in Jaffna and threatened the voters.

LTTE exploded a hand grenade in Puttalam area in order to threaten the people who came for voting, killing number of Tamil voters.

UNP member, R. Somapala residing on Kandy Road in Trincomalee was shot and killed by the LTTE. He owns a tyre store on Kandy Road. He was working for the UNP in this Presidential Elections. He was shot and killed today around 2:30 pm.

The Kalwunkerni Post Officer Gomathi Veerapathiran (35) of School Road, Kaluwunkerni was kidnapped last night around 9 pm and hacked to death by the LTTE. Reports say, that yesterday afternoon, the LTTE had gone to her post office and demanded that she hand over the undelivered ballot papers to them. But Gomathi had refused to give them to the LTTE.

Relangi and her husband killed in their shop at Wellawatta. Sri Lanka's Tamil activists say Tamil Tigers have shot and killed a senior Tamil broadcaster and her husband in the capital Colombo.

Relangi Selvarajah, 44, a well-known newsreader worked for government owned Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporarion, and her husband were gunned down around 1300 Sri Lankan time.

The victim' bullet-riddled body was found abandoned on the banks of a rural tank. The 37-year old victim, DHARMALINGAM SATHYALINGAM's house at No.114 of MUTUGALA,SEVANAPITIYA was stormed by those six armed men at about 9.00 p.m. before he was taken away and murdered.

LTTE terrorists murder two Muslim civilians who were returning after prayers yesterday evening in Welikanda.

Police said the victims have been identified as 45  year old M.S. Mohomadu and 42-year-old U. Kudduth. They were shot and killed at point-blank range, allegedly by LTTE cadres who arrived on a motorbike.

One of the victims was a school teacher and the other was a farmer.

Continuing its killing of members of rival political parties, the LTTE pistol group shot and killed an ex-PLOTE member last night at Pattakulam in Vavuniya.

The victim has been identified as K. Devaraja (49), the father of two children. While riding home on a bicycle, two gunmen arrived and shot the victim, killing him on the spot.

The victims were identified as Lafir Shashila (24) and Meera Lebbe.
The attackers have slashed the neck of the man and taken away the head, The Serunuwara police said. On 20 Apr LTTE shot dead a Muslim man who had come to bathe in a lake in this area, police said.

The policeman attached to the Vavuniya Police Station is the father of five children. Earlier the policeman had been threatened by LTTE rebels asking him to leave the service but he resisted.

LTTE terrorists killed the abducted Gramasevaka of Kudumbamalai and a youth at midnight Saturday at Santhiveli, north of Batticaloa.  The two bodies of deceased were found tied to lampposts with chains on two byroads leading to the Batticaloa beach. They had suffered head injuries. The Gramasevaka had been abducted by LTTE terrorists along with a contractor on 04 October, 2001.

A Tamil Tiger suicide bomber blew himself up in close proximity to a meeting of the acting head of state and Premier Ratnasiri Wickremanayake at Narahenpita, Colombo.

The terrorist exploded the bomb after raising suspicion and being questioned by police, killing a policeman and a civilian. 17 people were wounded, five of them critically. Death toll is expected to rise.

The U.S. Embassy confirmed three Americans were injured. The attacked was an assignation attempt on the precedent who survived the attack but was blinded in one eye due to shrapnel injuries she received. At least three senior ministers and some foreign journalists, including a Japanese television crew and a Reuters photographer, were among the injured at the ruling party's rally.

During the attack at least 58 Sinhalese villagers, including 17 women, 2 pregnant mothers and 14 children, were hacked to death with machetes and knives by LTTE terrorists. The victims were dragged from their sleep and butchered. Those who tried to seek refuge in the nearby dense jungles were chased and killed. Some of the villagers who fled their burning homes as gunmen fired at them were chased and hacked to death in rice fields. Others were killed as they slept.

Seven school children were among the dead.
